Tougher penalties for My Health Record breaches

Health Minister Greg Hunt has proposed tougher penalties for the misuse of My Health Record data, as the November 15 deadline to opt-out of the service approaches. Amid privacy and security concerns, Mr Hunt has proposed tougher penalties for misusing patient records, including a five-year prison sentence and $315,000 fines. Labor MP Anne Aly told Sky News, Australians are ‘rightly suspicious’ about the government’s capacity to handle confidential information.
